I have had the honor of serving the legal profession and the community at large in many significant areas. My combination of courtroom experience and leadership service have prepared me well to serve DuPage County as its next Circuit Court Judge.

Naperville Judge James F. McCluskey is pleased to announce his candidacy for the position of circuit judge for the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Court of DuPage County, Illinois. He is running for the Republican nomination in the March 17, 2020 primary.
“I have had the honor of serving the legal profession and the community at large in many significant areas,” McCluskey said. “My combination of courtroom experience and leadership service have prepared me well to serve DuPage County as its next Circuit Court Judge.”
James F. McCluskey founded the law firm of Momkus McCluskey in Lisle in 1991. He has tried hundreds of cases during his 40-year career, as a civil litigator. He had the honor to be appointed to the bench in 2018 by a vote of the 15 Circuit Judges in DuPage County. He has been selected to Super Lawyers for the past ten years and has received the top rating by Martindale Hubbell as a distinguished attorney in the State of Illinois.
McCluskey has dedicated himself to service and leadership in his career, church, family, community and the schools he has attended. He was honored by the DuPage County Bar Association as Lawyer of the Year and also received the Ralph Gabric Award for Outstanding Leadership. In the last year, Northern Illinois University College of Law presented him with “Alumni of the Year” award.
McCluskey is the Immediate Past President of the Illinois State Bar Association, a statewide, 30,000 member organization. He received the Presidential Award conferred by the Illinois State Bar Association in 2019. He also received the Joseph Bartylak Award the highest award conferred by the Lawyers Assistance Program in his efforts to promote health and wellness in the legal community. Currently, he serves on the Illinois Supreme Court Committee of Professional Responsibility. In 2019-2020 he will chair the Legislative Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association. In the past he has served as a Lisle Township Republican precinct committeeman.
McCluskey received his bachelors degree from Elmhurst College in Elmhurst and his Juris Doctor from Northern Illinois University and Masters of Law from The John Marshall Law School. He is a proud alum of Holy Cross High School (Guerin Prep) in River Grove, Illinois.
McCluskey was born and raised in Melrose Park and has resided in Kane and DuPage Counties nearly 40 years, including the last 4 years in Naperville. Judge McCluskey is married to Janice and has two adult children, Jaimie Zulkowski and Jessica McCluskey. Judge McCluskey is the proud grandfather to Zachary and Asher Zulkowski.
