About Jim

For over 25 years, Jim Wrotenbery has been a highly successful civil
litigator in Houston. His unique combination of civil trial and appellate
experience includes:

  • Approximately 150 civil jury trials to verdict in state and federal courts
        throughout Texas,
  • Approximately 100 published majority decisions in Texas Courts of
        Appeal, Texas Supreme Court and the U.S. 5th Circuit,
  • Partner and management responsibilities, including supervision and
        mentoring of associate attorneys in law firms since 1990, and
  • Participation as counsel and as volunteer
  • Mediator in hundreds of mediations and arbitrations in all areas of
        practice.

Jim is admitted to practice in all Federal Districts of Texas. He has an AV
Rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating from his peers.
In 1995, Jim was named Fellow of the State Bar of Texas. He is a member of
The Houston Bar Association, The State Bar of Texas, and The Fifth Circuit
Bar Association. Jim is also a certified Arbitrator and Mediator, and has
written numerous articles and publications for seminars sponsored by the
State Bar of Texas and University of Houston Law Foundation.

Jim Wrotenbery is also committed to serving his community. His many years
of community and volunteer activities include:

  • Guardian Ad Litem, Child Advocates, Inc.
  • The John S. Dunn Outreach Center - The Beacon, serving Houston’s
         homeless,
  • Habitat for Humanity,
  • Mission and Outreach Programs - Foreign Mission, Youth Ministries &
        Christmas at the Cathedral - Christ Church Cathedral,
  • Founding Board Member of FIRM (Foundation for Interfaith Ministry
        and Research),
  • Majority Builder, Texas Democratic Party
  • Sustaining Member, Harris County Democratic Party
  • Supporter, Harris County Democratic Party 2008 Coordinated
    Campaign
  • Member, Jung Center,
  • Member, Shepherd Society at Rice University, and
  • Attends Christ Church Cathedral.

Jim is a lifelong Texan and a native of Grand Prairie. He graduated Magna
Cum Laude from Rice University and earned his J.D. from the University of
Texas School of Law. As a law student, he served as a legislative aide to
Democratic State Representative Carlisle Smith. Jim has practiced law and
lived in Houston for over 25 years since graduating from law school.
